Customer Needs
The full refurbishment carried out for the Sheraton Resort and Convention Center in Doha aimed to keep the concept and atmosphere of Pereira’s original proposal and, at the same time, upgrade the facilities to a four star hotel of the 21st century. This equilibrium has been the main goal also considered in the concept proposal for the pool restaurant.
Our Solutions
The covered area of the restaurant combines a compact back-of-house and kitchen facilities along with all-day-lunch bar and tables. The outdoor space integrates three different areas, which are defined by their furniture: tall-tables informal snack area, lunch tables’ family friendly section and a chilled-out space with low-sitting elements and chaise long seats.
They all gradually address the visual connections towards the gardens and the main hotel pyramid-look building. The coordination with existing landscape elements and the simplicity of the materials and shapes highlighting the original brutalist design were key drivers of the proposal.
